Kalau Kereta Fuel Injection......

Selepas KLIA, aku ikut tepi F1 circuit, hujan berhenti, cuaca terang benderang. Aku sampai Bagan Lalang tepat pukul 8.45 pagi. Selepas taklimat dan sessi soal jawab aku balik ke Shah Alam ikut jalan pantai, Banting dan seterusnya Kelang. Tiba di Shah Alam kira-kira pukul 2 petang. Park kereta aku kat basement hingga pukul 5.30 petang. 5.30 petang aku cuba hidupkan kereta tapi gagal. Bateri penuh, cuma minyak macam kosong. Aku memang perasan yang lampu amaran minyak kosong dah menyala semasa aku park kereta tengahari tu, macam biasa aku sengaja tunggu lampu tu menyala, baru top-up. Cadangnya balik kerja tu baru top-up. Aku syak tentu minyak tu kosong sangat. Aku pergi beli petrol dan isi, try start, tapi tak m…

Lawatan Ke Melaka Dan Johor

Alas, the Last day lah...!

2nd December 2005, Hotel Seri Malaysia, Taiping, my kids woke up very early. I was the last person got up from bed. Everyone was very eager to roll out. I drove towards Taman Tasik Taiping, where I first dated my wife, back in 1988. I was trying to look for the bench which witnessed the historical moment, but couldn’t locate it in the proximity. They phased it out! We took few pictures, before proceeding to Kuala Kangsar, via the old trunk road. We stopped at a small stall by the river side at Bukit Berapit to have our breakfast. Except for the roaming flies, they served very good food. And the free flowing stream nearby was very refreshing. We then proceeded to Ipoh via the PLUS Expressway. We head for The Lost world of Tambun. Once a dead town (Close to Tiger Lane – once was Mizi’s nest) Tambun has underwent a shocking transformation. A satellite town is a more appropriate description of this town, once famous for its Pomelo. We spent entirely the whole day inside the theme park. A …

Another great day

1st December 2005, early morning I was teasing my children about taking a dip in the hotel’s pool, but they hesitated knowing that the water was extremely cold. This is the first time they encountered a ‘cold’ pond! After having breakfast at the coffee house, we hurried to Pekan Rabu which is only a walking distant. Situated along Jalan Langgar, the market was very clean, neat and well organized. The open Bazaar concept is very much similar to flea market; it is collections of small stalls selling variety of stuff. This is the best place to sample traditional Kedah fare like a sweet cake, dodol, kuah rojak, kueh karas, cendol, textiles, songkok, batik, etc. We bought few food items and a capal (Traditional sandal) for my little girl.
We check out from Holiday Villa at 11.30am and headed for Jitra, pay a short visit to a friend, Mustafa and then immediately proceeded to Bukit Kayu Hitam for another shopping spree! Things were not very interesting here. Not many varieties that we can cho…

A place, once I called home

30th November 2005, we woke up early, had breakfast at the Hotel Lobby and proceeded to the house where Tun Mahathir was born. It was built in 1900. When Mohamad Iskandar (Tun’s father) bought the house, it has only one room with no electricity. It has wooden flooring and the ceiling was made from white cloth. Tun was born here on 20th December 1925. He lives there until he was married and moved to his own house in Titi Gajah. Even then Mahathir will always commute to this house to visit his mother.
Our visit to Tun’s birth place gave us a different perspective of life of this respected leader. The house has been designated a historical building and was restored by the National Archives in 1992.

Later we continue our journey to Kangar. On the way north, we noticed a signboard directing to Muzium Padi. Under the shadows of the towering Gunung Keriang, amidst a backdrop of hectares of paddy fields, stands a museum devoted to rice. The museum, resembling bushels of harvested paddy stalks,…

Badly needed break - day 1

Image
I took 9 days off from 26 November to 4th December 2005. Wow ! That was the longest ever! For two reasons; Firstly, I accumulated so much of my annual leave, secondly I badly need a break from those office hazards! I really need to unwind.

I just stayed at home for the first two days, sleeping. The third day I invited my office staffs to my Idilfitri (again) so called open house. In the evening, after so much noises created by my daughters, we left for Bidor, put up a night there. That was day 1 of our holiday. The very next morning we left for Alor Star via the North-South Expressway. After making few stops, we safely arrived in Alor Star, City of Rice Bowl of Malaysia at about 3pm. Alor Star, with a colorful past that spanned over more than 270 years (Alor Star was founded in 1735 by Kedah’s 19th Ruler, Sultan Muhammad Jiwa). This city is not only one of the region’s oldest cities but is older than some famous cities in the world, such as Washington DC, which was founded in 1775 and …
