Selamat Hari Raya Idilfitri

Image
Salam Idilfitri dari warga semalu (macamlah ramai sangat). Idilfitri, hari kejayaan umat Muhammad melawan hawa nafsu.

Zahari Ahmad, the Jebat incarnation

Image
It was the 10th of Ramadan. I was extremely delighted when I received an invitation to a supper from the least expected person, Zahari a.k.a Jebat. (It had to be supper because it is Ramadhan) I was so eager to meet him after all this while.

Zahari is entirely a different person from the one I knew. He meditates and thinks a lot lately. He is facing a kind of difficulty in life, a very painful one. I did notice he had problems earlier, but never thought it was that deep. May be the tough life has made him a wiser man. He can now keep his cool even fire is burning out his soul, an extreme contrast to what I observed before. After listening to him, I doubt if I can carry that same kind of burden the way he is now.

He is a one tough guy, physically and spiritually Listening to him was like reading a thick tremendously heartbreaking novel. If I recall a difficulty in my life, it is not even a small fraction of his. The night we have chance to talk, is the night that I will never forget. The…

Md Diah gentleman, truly

Image
Md Diah Ramli, a quiet, humble, down to earth gentleman. Since Arau era, this good buddy seldom gets out of my sight. Somehow or rather I will know his whereabouts. I have been to his house in Merlimau once to attend his wedding, with Lix. His parents and brothers were very pleasant, I felt very comfortable during the short stint. He was then working with Koperasi Felcra where he met his life companion, Norita, a very humble, friendly and approachable lady, yet a remarkably successful business personality. Norita was an auditor who was supposed to audit the Koperasi’s account; somehow or rather she got audited by Md Diah! I can safely conclude that they were made for each other. During his heydays with Koperasi Felcra, Md Diah used to drive a vintage, Toyota KE, I guess. He used to visit me when I was a jobless brat at Lix’s place, Seafield Estate in USJ. To a jobless man, he was a very generous friend.

Then he advanced his career to a smart card company (He still with the company unti…

When old friends dropped by

Image
A bunch of old friends visited Mangifera Spa and Semalu blogs and were very excited to have met the writers, not in person but in cyber world. That’s technology! Unfortunately they did not leave a trace in the blogroom, but instead SMSed me on my mobile. Nevertheless I (and on behalf of MTO) would like to record my endless appreciation to those VIP visitors namely Md Diah Ramli - Mr Cool from Merlimau who was the gentleman of them all, Haji Wan Sulong Wan Drahman, who was the favorite when come to borrowing money, Ahmad Tarmizi Mohd Nor @ Veranjoo – be careful when you drink at canteen, he might just emerge from behind and drink it all!, Mazlina Mat Dali – Utan Aji lass, the cool, sporting, natural, simple and well mannered, Mohamad Abu Bakar @ Burn – Serdang guy who talked a lot about his teacher, KBY and once challenged me to a fight, which I refused, simply because I didn’t fight an amateur!, I suppose Jurizan also did pay us a visit (didn’t she) – the hardworking cute lass from Su…

Puasa Di Kerling Estate

Image
Maklumlah masa tu baru-baru guna sistem komputer. Aku kata nanti kita semak semula di pejabat esok. Esoknya hari pertama Ramadhan. Aku bangun sahur, tak tidur, sembahyang subuh, terus pergi 'Master Call'. Aku tunggu punya tunggu seorang pekerja pun tak muncul. Rupa-rupanya mereka 'Strike' sebab EPF terkurang bayar 25sen!. Aku buat lapuran ke ibu pejabat, lepas tu start kereta pergi melahu ke KL. Dalam hati aku "Kalau depa Strike tiap hari pun tak pe!"

Politik Koperat

Tiada cabaran.

That another Old Buddy

Image
I STUMBLED UPON this guy when I was browsing the net. He seems extremely different, but I can tell it is him just by the look of his smile and the eyes behind those Mahatma’s glasses. I clearly remember he crooned those rhyme of Wind Flowers (1974 album of Unborn Child) as he strummed the guitar.
Windflowers,
my father told me not to go near them,
he feared them always,
Said they carried him away.
Windflowers,
I couldn't wait to touch them,
to smell them,
I held them closely.
Now I cannot break away.

Their sweet bouquet disappears
like a vapor in the desert.
Take a warning, son.

Windflowers,
their beauty captures
every young dreamer
who lingers near them
Ancient windflowers,
I love you.

Wonder if we still know him today,as we did 25 years ago!

Welcome Ramadhan

Image
Just like a precious guest giving a brief visit, Ramadhan comes and goes. Ramadhan is the season when rewards are doubled, devils are chained, the gates of Paradise are widely opened, and the doors of the Hell are closed. It is the season of blessings.

We are thus required to pay it special salutation. So, welcome Ramadhan and hopefully we could reap its fruits in full. Truly lucky is the one who makes the best use of every second of the month of Ramadhan. Selamat Berpuasa, semoga Allah memberkati setiap amalan kita.

Tribute to MTO, my Old Buddy

Image
Old songs from the 80's be it Rindu Bayangan or Cinta Benar Cinta, in Arau, whenever these songs came on radio I would scream, "Mizie, they're playing your song!" and you’ll be singing along with the verse (I then realized you were not a good singer!).

Back then we didn't care much about what anyone might think, or feel, when we proudly wore striking color T-shirts – yellow, post-office red and you, a daring orange! We were sort of ahead of time, I presume?

So often, whenever I’m (or any of our friends) in misery, hands on the forehead (we call it helicoptering?), I will look for MTO to divulge all, so did the others. MTO, without hesitation will be there to lend his caring ears. Even so I did realize that whenever he is in grief, so few people would listen! Very unjust, huh?

I know occasionally, I simply ignored MTO whenever he needed caring ears to relate a story or two. Well, may be I was too selfish. I felt a pang of guilt! I’m sorry, pal.

Despite the fact that I…
